Following the 21U national team taking second place in the ""First IBAF 21U World Cup"", Samurai Japan was ranked first in the International Baseball Federation's (IBAF) baseball world rankings. This is the first time they have ranked first since the rankings were introduced in 2009.
The top 12 countries in the IBAF rankings will compete to be the greatest baseball team in the world in the IBAF-sponsored ""Premier 12"", scheduled for next autumn.
What is the International Baseball Federation (IBAF)?
An international organization with 124 member nations and regions, who sponsor international tournaments as well as conduct baseball promotion activities worldwide. The Japanese national baseball team competes in a variety of competitions and games sponsored or recognized by the International Baseball Federation (IBAF).
